Founded in 1844, it was the first Western medicine hospital after the opening of Shanghai port.

Founded in 1869, the hospital has set national benchmarks including the “Hangzhou Protocol” for transcatheter heart valve replacement, minimally invasive complex cataract surgery, standardized diagnosis and treatment of colorectal tumors, and mass severe trauma rescue. The perioperative survival rate of pediatric liver transplantation is at the internationally leading level.
Founded in 1892, it has reached leading domestic and international standards in many fields, such as adult living donor liver transplantation, early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, cardiac interventional therapy, neurosurgery and functional neurosurgery, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for severe pancreatitis, and allogeneic combined larynx-trachea-thyroid transplantation.
Founded in 1957, it is China’s first Grade A tertiary specialized hospital focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiothoracic diseases after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Centered on two major discipline clusters: thoracic tumors and cardiovascular diseases, it masters the most extensive spectrum and full range of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for cardiothoracic diseases in China.
Annual outpatient and emergency visits exceed 860,000, with more than 28,000 surgeries performed each year. The proportion of Grade-III and Grade-IV surgeries is over 90%. Its surgical volume for tracheal and mediastinal tumors ranks No.1 nationwide, lung tumor surgery volume ranks No.2 nationwide, and esophageal surgery volume is among the top in China and ranks No.1 in the city.

Founded in 1907. It also boasts a large array of sophisticated instruments such as PET-CT, Tomotherapy system (TOMO), proton radiotherapy system and 3.0T MRI.
